I'm giving away 5 of these sets.

Leave a comment on this post between now and 12am Thursday morning for your chance to be entered.

Tell me what the most valuable thing you have learned from my blog this year has been, or what you want to learn, any other suggestions for Copic (colors, new products, etc), or just say hello. It's that easy!

Good Luck!

Come back later today for more prize opportunities and updates on other winners.

Rules:
• US & Canada only, sorry!
• One entry per person
• Must include a way for me to contact you (e-mail address or blog link)
• After I announce the winner you have one week to contact me or your prize is void and will be passed on to a runner-up.

Congratulations, Marianne on a very successful and educational blog. I refer all my new Copic students to you. I tell them to start at the oldest posts and read forward.
I would like to see them make a G42, I love G40 for my scenic coloring but 2 shades darker would be perfect, same for a B43. Can't have enough blues and greens. Thanks for the chance at great blog candy.

Happy Anniversary! I've been a fan since the beginning. I love your blog instructions for simple things we can do with our pens (like waves and bricks) and also your instructions on how to color. Thank you so much for your blog. I hope there is a book coming out soon that has all your techniques in one place!

I just a few Copics so far and haven't had alot of practice with them yet but I am anxious to give them a go soon. I think the most valuable thing I've learned so far is how to "seat" and image to prevent it from looking like it's just floating on the paper. Thanks for the opportunity to win such a varied set of markers.

I love Copics. I just purchased the new Spica's, great colors. I took a class on Sunday at A Muse with Joyce on Copic's. She did a great job and of course I had to buy more Copics. I have learned about shading and to try new ideas from your blog. Happy 1 Year Anniversary.

Would love more info on the spica pens. Do they have lots of glitter, and do they flow easily? No stores near me carry them and would like to see them up close and personal before purchasing them.

Congrats on a year of blogging. I have followed your blog. I read every new entry and frequently go back and re-read the entries on techniques that I am practicing. I had stopped using markers in my rubber stamping over 15 years ago but after reading your blog and playing with the techniques I use Copic markers more than any other medium. The color theory and choosing where the light source would be hitting the items I'm coloring were very valuable lessons that helped me immensely.

Thanks!

Congrats on your 1 yr. ann., as I know it has been a lot of work for you- but so very helpful to so many of us, so THANK YOU ! I found you on Michelle Oatman's site. I marveled at her cards, & that she used something called Copic's & started learning about copics from you-couldn't get enough. Then started buying them in sets of caio's, & now sketch's.
I learned so much about skin color, shading, doodling, & about paper, ink, & the markers. You are very talented & I think you are the reason that Copic marker's have become the rage for all us paper/fabric crafters.
You live so close to me I wish I could come down to your shop but am disabled & in home 24/7, which makes your site so very important(as can't attend classes), so I thank you from the bottom of my heart & hope you will continue for a long time to come.
I think I would like to see maybe different types of eyes for different nationalities.

Marianne!! Congratulations!! So....if I had to pick one bestest (most valuable) thing about your blog this past year, I would choose the way you write/demo your tutorials. You make it seem attainable for an average person to be "an artist." That may sound corny, but it's sincere - it's what I get out of reading your blog. Wishing you continued success!!!

I haven't gotten to try to copics yet because I always research the dickens out of something before I take the plunge. I just want to say that your blog made me really want to jump in. I can't wait to get some copics. Thanks. Sandy

Happy Blogiversary Marianne! I took your certification class last year in Kansas City and I now have over 100 markers! I absolutely LOVE them and I don't think I've colored with anything else since I started using them. I also work part-time in a local stamp store and I've hooked many more people on Copics! I'm such an enabler! Anyway, congrats on a whole year!!

KellyW said...

I have just started purchasing Copic markers and haven't had time to use them yet.

I am so glad that is a blog like yours for the beginner like me to learn from!

thanks for all of the valuable information!

I have learned everything I know from your blog! Well regarding Copics anyway! He he. When I took your class in Toronto, I already knew most of the theory from your blog. I think the most helpful tips are on shading and using the colourless blender. I'd love more posts on shading using colour other than a darker version of the colour or grey.
Best wishes for another awesome year!! Rebeccacell at gmail dot com

Inspiration. I've been inspired and motivated. I was an art student with aspiration to become a graphic designer. Life, marriage, motherhood, etc took over my life. I haven't colored or pulled out art in over 15 years...until your site motivated me to start shading and drawing again! Thanks.

Ann said...

I was a newbie to copics when you first started your blog. I excitedly purchased some and started to play only to wonder why anyone thought they were wonderful. THEN after subscribing to the blog and playing with each technique you shared, the coloring started to improve and I'm now in LOVE with my markers. I have a long way to go to make the shadows and blending perfect. The blog entries for this have been wonderful! I'd suggest the blog entries be organized and put into book form!

Hi Marianne! Congrats on one year! I tried blogging and didn't make it anywhere near that!!!! :-) So, for what I have most appreciated on your blog: learning about shading. It is my weakest area and I have read and re-read all your shading posts. So very helpful! Thank you!

I learned a lot about shading & lighting. I especially liked the turtorial about coloring on a cylindar and then shading on a tubular-like plant that was similar. Practice, practice, practice, right?

Absolutely, without a doubt, the most valuable thing I have learned from your blog is....to pick up the marker and try. If it doesn't look the way you want it to, try again. I am creative but not artistic if that makes sense. I will read whichever post of yours is applicable at the time, look at the examples and then give it a go. I'm getting better everyday and I'm inspired to try new combinations, techniques, etc. Thank you for sharing your talents!!

I think the shading lessons have been really helpful and I really appreciated the airbrush ones, as I really didn't have a clue about what to buy and why. Although I did end up buying the one that you use, I appreciated the tips on how to adapt others and they helped me make a more informed decision.

I can't even begin to tell you what I have learned from your blog. I love, love, love it!! My mum was a tole painter so I learned alot about shading when I was a little girl watching her and her friends paint, but paint isn't my thing (don't get me wrong I can paint, I just don't like to). Markers and pencils are my joy. If I had to pick a single topic the how to color specific flesh tones was my favorite. A topic I would like to see is how to use the toner grays, in relation to my color pallette. I have dabbled with them but with poor results. Thanks for the great blog read all the time, I will continue to be a loyal follower.

Awesome to get a chance to win so often on your blog!!

My favorite lessons that I learned came from this post:
http://ilikemarkers.blogspot.com/2009/02/basic-rules-of-good-design.html
where you discussed the rules of good design. These are really hard to capture if you have not been to design school - but thanks to you I'm understanding more than ever before. Thanks a million!
